Another 26 has gone by and another edition of the Strider Magazine is being published. The Strider Magazine project is funded through the Commonwealth Government initiative "Work for the Dole". Its through this project that the unemployed have an opportunity to gain work experience while at the same time giving something back to the community. As you will see in this edition of Strider some of the participants write of the experience of being involved in a "Work for the Dole" program, some of the positives and the negatives. As I have said in this space before, the program is for a better word a start. A start to gaining experience of working life and at the same time gaining skills that will be an asset when an employment opportunity arises. During the program the team have been exposed to a wide range of skills, including; web page design, writing and editing, researching, word processing, communicating in the work place and working as a team. This edition of Strider has developed considerably from the last edition, with more stories and more things to experience. This couldn't have taken place without the team of dedicated people I have had the opportunity to work with during the compiling of this edition. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the team for the work that they have done, something, which I believe, speaks volumes for itself. As far as a team goes the group have done a remarkable job and I thank them all sincerely for the time and effort that they have given and shown during the 26 weeks we have been working together on the project. Finally I would like to wish the group and you the reader a very safe and Merry Christmas and the very best for the coming year.
